A
Bloomberg.com piece by Sylvia Ann Hewlett provides solid examples of how some businesses are responding to tough economic times by adopting and formalizing workplace flexibility programs. The proverbial light bulb went on in Citigroup's corporate real estate division when it discovered that too many real light bulbs were shining in too many empty offices. The result: Citi's
Alternative Workplace Strategies, a push to provide a greener workplace through office-sharing and remote work.” Hewlett also points to other examples, including one by Sodexo, which simplified a formal process for its flexible work program.
